David developed this open-hardware/open-source smartwatch platform to study how people experience time compression or expansion in daily life. The watch works by asking people to guess the time whenever they would like to check the time. The watch also captures ambient light levels, temperature, and humidity data to help inform a model of time perception.
Initial data suggests people experience significant time compression during their daily lives, if you remove their clocks; this interaction also seems to be reasonable for tracking time perception during daily life without disruption. This project has won
