David created this e-ink, typewriter-like device to host an email client and study how a physically separate email device (near your main desktop) alters focus, self-interruption, and stress. How much does having one device overloaded with many functions distract us?
This hardware was designed to work with an altered version of the opensource Mailspring email client, which has been altered to record anonymized usage data as shown below, including when and how frequently the email client app is opened and other general usage statistics.
